In September 2005, the Department of Enterprise Trade & Employment (DETE) requested the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs (EGFSN) to undertake research to underpin the development of a National Skills Strategy. The Group established a sub-group to oversee the development of the Terms of Reference for the project and to steer the subsequent research study1. The sub-group reported its findings to the Expert Group in September 2006. The key findings of this study are set out in this report.
